The Constitution

After the Revolutionary War, the 13 colonies became the 13 states of the United States. People from the 13 states wanted to make a government. They wrote a paper to tell how the United States government works. We call this document the Constitution. The Constitution is the highest law of the United States. We say the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The Constitution tells the rights of all people living in the United States. It says the United States government has three parts.
